I was a little bored tonight....

Cycling - a big change to my lifestyle.

So, I bought a second-hand bike for £100 (a deal!), as shown.

It's a nice bike and I only paid £100 for it, but I plan to get my money's worth, through savings in petrol if nothing else.

I've been riding to work and back nearly every day and in only a month I've easily paid for the bike. So now it's for personal fitness reasons and enjoyment alone. There's something quite satisfying about whizzing past loads of grid-locked cars in rush hour! :)

So, the whole purpose of this is to lose a bit of weight and get fitter. It's slowly beginning to work, so maybe the next time I post something I'll be able to report that my weight is down from 12 stone. Ideally I should be 10 stone so there is some way to go. Plus it's getting cold now, but I'm adamant I'll keep this up.

4 wheel drive pays off!

It might not look like much to the untrained eye, and especially if you know the ability of the other drivers involved, but this is really good for me. I'm relishing the moment while it lasts. Yay me! :)

What's changed in over 6 months...loads really!

Well, it's been a while since I wrote anything in my Blog. There are *loads* of people in the world who slavishly maintain their blogs, and I'm not one of them.

Still I thought it was time to finally add a bit more to this, so what's happened in six months?
  • The single biggest thing that has happened to me is I had laser eye surgery to correct my eye-sight and it worked out wonderfully. Now I can see extremely well with both eyes, better than 20/20 in the right and just under 20/20 in the left. I can wear shades, swimming goggles, snorkling is much more fun, I don't steam up coming in from the cold, I don't get rain spots on glasses any more, I can play sport without the fear of having my glasses smashed, I've no worries about being out and losing / crushing my glasses etc. To cut a long story short it as changed my life and I wish I'd done it sooner.
  • I put weight on, sold my old bike for a fiver, bought a better bike, got mad in cycling, weight is coming off.
  • Put the house on the market, didn't sell, wasted £400 on a HIP, house is now off the market and were extending instead.
  • Got better at tuning and driving my beloved R/C models, now I can consistently beat 12 year old into the ground - eat my dust - yes!
  • Got well into cooking and Jamie Oliver in general, make my own fresh pasta, eggy chilli crumptets, roast dinners - I don't do dough though.
  • Met loads of people on Facebook whom I haven't seen or heard from in ages, and in particular, one very special person who I have been trying to find for ages
  • We fought with the help of the union and got a significant pay rise - always a good thing!
  • Still not smoking and very proud of it!
There is probably other stuff which has happened which escapes me right now, but this place is more for my benefit than anyone else's really - a sort of digital diary where I can keep a vague record of my life.

And whilst no blog entry would be complete without some sort of multimedia experience, here's me and my mate Jon taking the piss out of rock crawling R/C freaks.

Peace, out!

TRF501x is sold...long live the X-5 squared!

So, even though I loved the TRF501X, especially the sweet looks, I just wasn't getting on with it by the end....so I flogged it on eBay and it was sold withing 30 minutes of posting! LOL.

Got most of my money back too...but for someone that was a sweet deal...especially with all the spares and extras.

Anyway, I decided that I loved my Losi XX4WE a bit more, but that it needed a revamp. So in a moment of consumer bliss I hovered over the BUY button for an X-5 Squared conversion kit and took the plunge.

Here's the results. It is a beautiful machine to drive (although a little ugly and boxy looking compared to the XX4) - and this is my custom paint job by Mick Butler of www.blakeydesigns.com.

Now...the problem with my TRF501X was that it was heavy and difficult to work on. This new X-5 Squared car is quite the opposite - lighter, faster and much easier to work on. I'm willing to forego the boxy looks for the performance increases! NO BRAINER!

All the boxes are ticked with this one and it's made a massive difference to my driving.

Mine, mine all mine!

My RX-8...goes like shit off a shovel...drinks fuel, but then it is a sports car!

I can't stop driving it at the moment...the grin factor when you put your foot down is really addictive. ;)
